What to Expect During a Short-Term Rehab Stay at Menno Haven
By Andrew Diehl, Administrator of Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center
At the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center, a short-term rehab stay is shaped not only by the space but also by the people who care for you. From the moment you arrive, the focus is on comfort, dignity, and meaningful connection, all essential parts of the healing process.
Designed With Well-Being in Mind
You will notice the difference right away. From the unique exterior to the welcoming entrance, the Rehabilitation Center was thoughtfully designed to promote wellness. Inside, modern décor, live plants, bright colors, and abundant natural light create a calm, spa-like atmosphere that helps guests feel at ease.
This approach to design has earned national recognition. The Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center is WELL Certified at the Gold level by the International WELL Building Institute. This certification reflects a commitment to spaces that support physical and emotional health for guests, visitors, and team members. Menno Haven was also the first skilled nursing facility in the world to achieve this distinction.
Comfort During Your Stay
Each guest enjoys a private room designed for both comfort and convenience. Rooms feature modern furnishings, a television, phone, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom with a shower. Guests and visitors are also welcome to spend time in shared areas throughout the Rehabilitation Center, including the day room, private dining spaces, and the courtyard café, located next to the outdoor courtyard.
People Serving People
While the setting plays an important role, it is the team that truly makes the experience meaningful. At Menno Haven, healthcare is about people serving people. Our nurses, nurse aides, therapists, and support staff take time to build relationships, listen, and provide encouragement throughout each guest’s stay.
After admission, the clinical team completes a comprehensive assessment and develops a personalized plan of care based on individual needs and goals. Nurses and nurse aides are available 24 hours a day to provide care and assistance as guests work toward regaining strength and independence.
Personalized Therapy and Progress
Soon after arrival, the therapy team begins working with each guest to establish clear, achievable goals. Therapy sessions take place in a modern, state-of-the-art gym equipped with advanced technology designed to support safe progress. Therapists focus on building confidence, improving mobility, and helping guests reach milestones that matter to daily life.
Dining That Supports Recovery
Nutrition is an important part of healing. Our culinary team offers a variety of flavorful, well-balanced meals, and licensed dietitians are available to guide guests on choices that support their health goals. Meals can be enjoyed in a restaurant-style dining space that encourages connection and a relaxed experience.
Recognition for Excellence
The Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center has earned several honors that highlight its commitment to quality care and thoughtful design. In addition to WELL Gold Certification, the Center received the LeadingAge PA Innovation of the Year Distinguished Service Award and was featured in the Environments for Aging Design Showcase.
Planning for What Comes Next
Throughout the stay, a dedicated discharge planner works closely with guests, families, and the care team to prepare for the next step after rehab. Whether returning home or transitioning to another level of care, the goal is to ensure a smooth and confident transition.
After a successful short-term rehab stay at the Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center, our hope is that each guest feels prepared to return to an active, healthy lifestyle and continue moving forward with confidence.
