A Day at ElderDay

If you’re considering enrolling your loved one in ElderDay at Menno Haven, you may be wondering what it’s like—especially if this is your first time exploring adult day services. We understand that it can be difficult (and maybe a bit nerve-racking) the first time you visit a program like this.

To give you a more detailed perspective on what to expect, here is a glimpse into a typical day at ElderDay. While no two days look the same, we strive to provide stability and security for our members.

Adult day services—sometimes called adult day care—are programs designed to provide intentional, supervised, assistance for adults who can’t stay at home on their own during the day. Our ElderDay Program offers caregivers peace of mind during the daytime hours. Your loved one will enjoy a range of activities and special attention from our team of trained activity staff, nurses, and personal care assistants who provide care to our residents.

A Day at ElderDay

When your loved one arrives at ElderDay, they will be greeted by our friendly team that functions like a close-knit family. Our caregivers will greet and guide your loved one throughout their day with us. Each day has unique activities planned intentionally to engage every member of our ElderDay community.

Speaking of community, fostering relationships is one of our top priorities. Our members can attest to the wonderful friendships they’ve made while at ElderDay. Even if your loved one has dementia, he or she will be able to enjoy music and fun activities while surrounded by team members who care about them.

Here’s How Your Loved One Will Have Fun at ElderDay!

Healthy Lunch and Personal Care Services:

Typically, the details of medications, bathing, and other practical considerations are top of mind when caregivers inquire about our services. We will manage your loved one’s medications, healthy meals, and snacks while taking into account special dietary needs. If specific hygiene-related services are required, we can create a plan to address these needs together.

Physical Activities

If your loved one enjoys being active, they will find no shortage of opportunities to enjoy times of physical fitness at ElderDay. We offer exercise classes including seated yoga, the NuStep cross-training, live music, dance parties, and other physical games and group activities.

Creative Down Time

We understand that not every guest will prefer the hustle and bustle of group exercise or physical games. There’s something for everyone at ElderDay! We are delighted to offer a range of mentally engaging and creative choices to enhance their experience including gardening, art, painting, crafts, adult coloring, cookie decorating, and more!

Educational Opportunities.

We are proud to offer the iN2l (It’s Never Too late) computer system customized for activities, games, therapy, and more. ElderDay team members use this technology to enrich their programming. We also offer educational presentations, trivia, reading, and lively discussions between members and the team. Individuals with impaired hearing may access the Center’s Eversound Listening System that enhances seniors’ ability to hear and focus.

Adventures

For the adventurous among us, we offer day trips and country drives in and around beautiful Franklin County. Other outings include picnics and tram rides. We also coordinate volunteer opportunities to benefit local charities. Ultimately, our guests enjoy simply getting some fresh air and enjoying the great outdoors together!

And So Much More!

These are just a few ways ElderDay provides a social setting for your loved one. From show and tell days to snuggles with cats and karaoke parties, there truly is something for everyone at ElderDay!

We want you to know that we care about you and your loved one and will work tirelessly to ensure they are comfortable, safe, and secure as they enjoy their special day out with us. ElderDay is the support you need to continue being a patient and energized caregiver to your special loved one. We would love to help answer any questions you have and set your mind at ease. Contact us today to learn more or schedule a visit.
